Covid-19 Solutions

Covid-19 as named by WHO on January 7, 2020, is the sole reason for the epidemic of acute respiratory syndrome in humans. On 11 Feb 2020, the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) coined the term SARS-CoV-2(Coronavirus 2 that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome). The Corona Virus though started as a zoonotic disease, spread rapidly across the entire world in a very short span of time, hence has been categorized as a pandemic. The Emergency Committee of the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) declared the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Importance (ESPII) at its meeting on January 30, 2020.

Corona is a family of viruses that can cause the common cold, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). Spike protein on the outer surface of the viruses helps for entry of the virus to host cells. At the later stages, it interacts with the human ACE2 receptor in the human respiratory system.
