Does cow milk help build immunity?

Does cow milk help build immunity?

BY DSS Imagetech Pvt Ltd 4th April 2022

In our nation, milk has long been associated with a good diet. Everyone’s childhood recollections include their moms chasing them down to force them to drink milk or telling them that they liked milk and that their children should have it every day. It’s always been and always will be a non-negotiable element of breakfast.

What is immunity and why is it important?

Immunity refers to the body’s ability to fight illnesses. Pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria that cause disease, are continually present in people’s environments. Antigens are proteins found on the surfaces of pathogens that cause the host’s immune system to respond. The immune system is the body’s defence mechanism against the antigen and for self-protection. Nutrition and immunity are intertwined. Nutrition provides and restores critical nutrients to your immune cells, allowing them to perform their functions. Immune cells require a lot of energy and nutrients to defend the body against infections. Because of how active they can be when fighting, they require a steady supply of important vitamins and minerals.

Because immunity is so important these days, the advantages of milk in supporting one’s immune system should not be disregarded. Milk is a nutrient-dense protein source. It is said that a daily glass of cow milk can be beneficial to your heart and your general wellness. It just takes 400 to 500ml to reap the advantages, although it has been noted that children consume it more than adults. White blood cells (WBC) are the body’s real fighters and aid in antibody production. They are made up of protein, which, together with vitamins, plays an essential part in supporting a healthy immune system.

How can cow milk help boost immunity?

Cow milk has several nutrients that are not present in any other type of milk. It’s an ancient and well-respected health drink with origins in Ayurveda. It is still considered a healthy beverage for the body’s overall growth. Cow milk is extremely nutritious and includes a wide variety of nutrients, making this the perfect meal on its own. It’s a storehouse of high-quality protein that helps the cell’s building components maintain their strength. It includes nine essential amino acids, all of which have been scientifically established to have several health advantages. Cow milk is necessary for strengthening your immune system and repairing damaged tissues and cells. For example, Vitamins A and D, proteins, zinc, and selenium are all found in milk.

Cow Milk includes all nine crucial amino acids required for the body’s essential functions. It’s high in vitamin D, B12, magnesium, zinc, and thiamine, all of which help to promote immunity. It’s also high in potassium, which might help keep blood sugar levels under control and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Milk is full of nutrients like Vitamin A, which improves your skin’s health. Cow Milk’s nutritional content makes it a must-have in most people’s diets. It contains protein with a high biological value and Vitamin D. Probiotics, vitamin D, and immunoglobulins are all substances found in cow milk that help enhance the immune system and minimize the likelihood of allergies.

Milk is also high in ‘high-quality’ protein, which your body equips with itself to fight illnesses. Furthermore, milk contains probiotic bacteria, which helps your body strengthen the immune system and assist in the battle against sickness.

Grass fed cows vs Supplementary feed cows

Though cow milk helps build one’s immunity, it is important to understand the source from where the milk is coming to better understand how cow milk helps build one’s immunity. Milk from grass-fed cattle is known to have more omega-3 fatty acids (especially C18:3 linolenic acid) and conjugated linoleic acid than milk from supplementary-feed cows. Owing to the cow’s exposure to sunlight, vitamin E and beta-carotene quantities in milk are higher.

Some essential nutrients are more abundant in grass-fed cow’s milk than in conventional milk. Grass-fed cows, unlike regular cows, consume grass as their major source of nourishment and are not allowed to be given grain or grain by-products. This diet, when compared to standard dairy products, can lead to healthier cattle and different milk composition.

With so many milk products available in the market, it’s easy to choose the wrong one. Consumers are increasingly interested in dairy products from grass-fed cows, owing to potential health benefits and animal welfare issues. When it comes to your health, it’s critical to understand where your food comes from and choose what you know and trust is healthy for you and your family.
