Molecular Pathology & Diagnostics

Molecular pathology is an emerging approach within pathology that focuses on the subject and study of disease through the evaluation of particles within organs, tissues or bodily fluids. The molecular diagnostic is the incorporation of techniques used to analyse biological markers in the genome and proteome, and how their cells present their genes as proteins, utilising molecular biology to clinical testing. The procedure is utilized to examine and observe the disease, distinguish risk, and decide which treatments will turn out best for the patients.

Sometimes limited care is given to bone fixation and decalcification and bone specimens are, at times, left in a container and drenched in a decalcification suspension of obscure composition. Samples are then poured into the solution until thought to be decalcified. Bones that are operated in this manner can have poor morphology and the genetic material can be of poor quality for downstream molecular testing like NGS.

DSS has a range of products for the histology lab to tailor the fixation and decalcification cooperation to the particular features of their bone tissue specimens to enhance diagnostic quality and consistency of results. We have tied up with companies Master Diagnostica, Dako, Invivoscribe to offer world class solutions.

In situ hybridization (ISH) techniques are used to localize specific nucleic acid sequences within the DNA in cells in tissues or cytological preparations, on chromosomes or in whole mounts.

Labeling Systems

Labeling Systems is an innovative slide identification solution that provides a means for permanent identification of slides using text and barcodes. We offer two label printers and highly resistant slide labels.

Dako CoverStainer

Dako CoverStainer automates every step of the primary staining process from baking to drying, streamlining workflow and providing consistent quality slide after slide.

DECALMATE

The DecalMATE system is a new tool that enables histotechs to “tailor” their fixation/decalcification process to the specific characteristics of their bone tissue specimens.

TISSUESAFE PLUS

TissueSAFE plus is an innovative, patented vacuum system, which ELIMINATES formalin in the operating theatre and allows a controlled formalin-free transfer of biospecimens to the laboratory.

FINEFIX MODULE

The high quality of Milestone frozen sections can only be obtained by freezing the specimens with PrestoCHILL and by processing the slides with FineFIX (patent n. EP 1 455 174 B1) before staining.

PRESTOCHILL

PrestoCHILL reduces freezing time to 60 seconds: it eliminates freezing artifacts through ultrafast freezing, preventing the formation of ice crystals.

Green List

Milestone is striving to improve the laboratory work environment by developing safer and greener reagents and accessories.

Dako Coverslipper

The Dako Coverslipper is a compact unit. It is small enough to fit inside fume cabinets and it can handle up to 600 slides per hour making it one of the fastest glass coverslippers currently available and setting a new benchmark in instrument design.
