THE JOYFUL JUGGLER
BY Shubhra Srivastava 8th March 2021
Hard times come in life –few come and go, few last long but the learnings you get from those times stay with you lifelong! One of the toughest times which we still are not over with, the Covid pandemichas taught us a lot –sitting locked inside the house, working from home, managing kids, doing daily chores and in addition, the looming fear of what if it catches me!!
If I were to share my personal experience, I became a juggler, and a joyful one…quite literally! I failed many-a-time – it took quite some time to strike a balance amongst so many things that I was doing at same time.During lockdown, my life turned upside down and I think many others would relate with me – a nuclear family, aworking couple with a young kid who otherwise used to be in a crecheall day. Suddenly everyone is bound to the house, office gets online, the kid’s classes get online, no domestic help, limited resources and the added stress of staying safe!
It took me sometime to realize what was happening and why nothing seemed to work. We hadnever imagined such a condition could be prolonged – the breakfast became brunch and lunch become supper. At times it was funny &frustrating at the same time when in an online meeting after speaking for five minutes, you are told that you were on mute! Another time you are embarrassed to speak because your kid is throwing a tantrum right there and yet again, your colleague could tell you what was cooking from the number of times your cooker whistled!
Sleepless nights from deadlines at work but I gradually managed to juggle all with the support from my Team, my husband and my friends. The pandemic has been a nightmare for many people and lucky are those who have transitioned into this new lifestyle without sustaining long term problems in their lives. I am one who can say it was the best time of my life as I learned a lot – being camera friendly on video calls for a shy person like me, conducting online webinars and engagement events, learning new technologies, etc. This phase helped me discover my inner potential.
The only mantra I can reiterate now is ‘Help and ask for help’as only this can make the difference, especially when you are a daughter/wife/mother/working woman. Even a small gesture makes a big difference like when you are famished and can’t take a break from work – and your kid comes and feeds you her snack! Your joy kicks in instantaneously.
You can always choose to be happy even when nothing is going as you planned – so STAY HAPPY STAY POSITIVE.
On the occasion of International Women’ Day, I would like to congratulate each woman who managed to successfully sail through the high tides of the pandemic and became a good sailor of life. I wish each reader of mine to be blessed with abundance of happiness, health and fulfillment in life.
